2nd February 2009 – Trust the Process Counselling's response to the Independant on SundayDealing with your emotions that are all over the place to begin with can often seem like an overwhelming task, doing this whilst attending a Methadone clinic on a daily basis can make you feel angry and resentful, frustrated or full of self-pity, guilt and loneliness. These are all to be expected, you have been suffocating and hiding these feelings for a long time. They may be the reasons you used in the first place or may have enabled you to continue as things got worse. Unfortunately these feelings can’t be avoided and do need to be felt and processed, but you don’t have to do this alone. First of all recognize what you’re feeling and then get help dealing with these feelings and your addiction. Often intense negative emotions are triggered by feelings of low self worth, anger and loneliness. Jeff Mullins - Trust The Process Counselling, Southern Counselling Manager: "I read with relief the article in the Independent. It did not contain anything that is not well-known throughout our industry and it was positive to see these facts clearly expressed in a national newspaper. In a time when the majority of people presenting with addiction problems are expressing a desire for abstinence, the government is spending so relatively little on abstinence-based treatment and so much on opiate maintenance. It is shocking that in this country, the average period of time that a person is kept on a methadone script is seven years and also that for a person to gain any support for addiction treatment it seems that have to first become enough of a social nuisance to merit it." Our Primary Care Programme will help with the following.Detox from substances. Stop using drugs/alcohol once and for all. Deal with cravings & triggers. Deal with the trauma that leads to drug/alcohol use. Gain acceptance around events of the past. Develop self confidence and self esteem. Resolve difficulties in your relationships. Accept responsibility for your own behavior. Work on forming positive relationships with others. Help you understand addiction as an illness. What makes us stand out from the rest? All of our staff have beaten addiction themselves.
We have a unique inspirational model, which lifts a client and inspires / motivates them to change. Excellence is standard. All of our staff are trained to meet and mostly exceed DANOS requirements.
